Having been a SWL since the age of 8, and having seen my father - M0WJW (formerly G8JSW) - be an amateur radio operator for the majority of my life, I decided to get my act together and get my foundation licence in July 2015.  Due to personal circumstances I did this self study and then took the exam via the Radio Society of Harrow.

I hope to be able to begin to study in my spare time for an intermediate licence. So far not managed but keep promising myself I will get started on this.

I am currently operational on HF, 6m, 2m and 70cm from my QTH, and also pedestrian and automotive mobile. With the help of M0BPQ I have put up a 8m sandpiper mast with a DK7ZB 5+8 ele 2m/70cm beam.  I bought a 6/4m 4+4 ele DK7ZB but it has had some issues so I am currently setting up a Vine Antennas 6m/4m beam.  This should improve my VHF work considerably.

I am planning to make the most of the 10W that comes with the Foundation licence by using PSK31 and the weak signal modes on HF, but also hope if conditions allow to use SSB.

I can be found on echolink via my PC and on d-star via RF or a dvmega.  As of 09/16 I will be on allstar as node 44010. I use GB3LW, GB3OY, GB3NL and GB7KH FM repeaters for those of you in London or on can be found on dstar via GB7KH.

My current rigs are: a IC7100, a second hand ft-817, a loan icom 706mk2G, a ft7800, an Anytone 588 4m rig, an ID51 50th Anniv., a Tytera MD380, a Wouxun UV8D and a Trio TR9000.  I have Spectrum Communications RP6S, RP4S and RP2S station preamps for VHF SSB work.

I am ISWL member G21258,G-QPR member 15001, WAB book number 21214 and BATRG friend number 9183.  Recently I have joined the Drowned Rats Radio Group to take part in the UKAC contests.

I am hoping to get my two children involved in the hobby too in due course. In every day life I work in the administration of a University and am a non-stipendiary Greek Orthodox priest.

Hoping to be able to work some of you on the air in the coming years.
