I am an amateur extra class radio operator. I ventured into amateur radio after years of service on the public safety side of things. I met and befriended some "hams" in the area, and after obtaining my technician class license, my interest peaked from there. Some of my favorite modes of operation are phone and data (preferably PSK). I always enjoy finding new and interesting ways to communicate throughout the world with others. I QSL via LoTW, and QRZ.com.

Recently I have become interested in FM Digital communications, after my agency I work for made the switch to APCO-P25. So far I have been amazed at the endless possibilities with Digital FM, and currently I am running a handheld Yaesu FT1DR for analog and digital use. In the near future I plan to build a Raspberry Pi to connect a DV4mini, and a battery power supply to use mobile with. My internet connection will be Wi-Fi and cellular connection, allowing me to QSO across the world via 20 mW of power from the Raspberry Pi, and 1 watt of power from the handheld radio.

Currently I am using DMR via a Tytera MD380 Portable radio! DMR is amazing with the abilities it possesses, and the strides that have been recently made, including with MD380tools! 'tools is a hacked firmware by Travis Goodspeed and Warren, KD4Z has created a great way to easily install 'tools onto your radio. It is safe and reliable, unlike some of the other versions created by other operators. See the link https://githib.com/KD4Z/md380tools-vm to see the install instructions and download the newest updates.

I also am a member of the Monroe Amateur Radio Club, call sign WZ4V. To plug the radio club for a moment, you may visit WZ4V.com to learn more about our service to amateur radio and our community. In addition to the radio club, I also enjoy helping others dive into the world of amateur radio and assist them in obtaining their amateur radio license. Side note, I am a volunteer examiner as well.

Thanks for dropping by and please shoot me an email, find me on 2 meter FM and Digital FM, or find me on the HF bands! For more information, you may check out my website at N2AL.us. 73 to you and god bless!
