The GCARS 2m repeater (147.120 Mhz, pl tone 100hz) is now linked to the internet via the ECHOLINK system.  The repeater is hosted on Echolink as KG4ZJF-R (node 671596).

May 2017: We now are operating a DMR Repeater:

The repeater is on UHF at 445.7250 MHz (-5 MHz offset), Color Code 1- all digital channels, two time slots.

We are a member of the BrandMeister Network, a global network in over 40 countries.

We enjoyed a fine NPOTA activation of MP06 (Kings Mtn. Nat'l Military Park) September 24, 2016. All QSO's are QSL'd via LoTW now- we apologize for the delay.

Gaston County Amateur Radio Society (GCARS) has monthly meetings on the first Monday of each month, at 7 p.m., at 190 S. Oakland St. Gastonia, NC upstairs in the Red Cross Building.

We welcome all those who have any interest in ham radio and electronics. You do not have to be a licensed ham to attend!

GCARS/ARES nets are weekly on Tuesday evenings!!

The 440 net begins at 8 pm. The frequency is 444.550 mHz (no tone).

The 2m net begins at 8:30 pm. The frequency is 147.120mHz (100Hz tone).

Both of these repeaters (N4GAS) are located on Spencer Mountain in Gaston County.

The GCARS Traders Net immediately follows the 2m net each Tuesday night!
