New Call: NJ2US (effective 9/16/2017)

Previously K2CGH

First licensed as WN2CGH in 1971, then WB2CGH in 1972, followed by K2CGH until Sept 2017.  Retired Police Captain and Emergency Management Coordinator from the beach resort of Brigantine,NJ, just north of Atlantic City.  In my second career, I am  the Senior Project Manager for Mutualink, Inc, a radio/data/video interoperability company... Moved to Woodbine, NJ, Cape May County in 2007  to be near my other passion, general aviation.  I fly out of the Woodbine Airport (KOBI). My shack features the ICOM IC-7300, ICOM PW-1 Amplifier, and various flat top and loop antennas strung between several tall Jersey Pine Trees. My QTH is in the heart of the New Jersey Pinelands Preserve, bordering the Belleplain State Forrest. Cedar swamp  wetlands and virtually no industrial RFI make for an optimal operating environment. I enjoy DX and net operations, serving as an occasional fill In Net Control for the East Coast Amateur Radio Service on 7255 Khz. My favorite transmit antenna for 160-10 Meters is a 540 foot horizontal loop at 60 feet fed with homebrew 12 g balanced open wire ladder line. A recent addition to the station are THREE 600 foot Beverage antennas, facing North, West and South. These are super performers, check out the youtube link at the bottom of the page for dramatic comparison videos.

I recently closed one chapter of my aviation life when I sold Mooney N1159P, after 24 years of proud ownership. This Model M20J (201) was manufactured in Kerrville, Texas by the Mooney Aircraft Corporation. It is powered by a single Lycoming IO-360A3B6 200 HP horizontally opposed 4 cylinder air cooled engine. She burns about 10-13 gallons per hour and delivers an honest 185 mph at a typical altitude of 5 to 8 thousand feet. I maintain my FAA Private Pilot Instrumented rated certificate with a Valid Medical. I'm back to kicking the tires on my next aviation adventure, but in the mean time, I'm an airport bum stealing stick time from all my buddies, who keep various aircraft on the flightline.

I retired after 30 years of proud service in 2007. Awesome career, serving my hometown with few regrets. My XYL, Tracy, is a Senior forensic investigator for the State of New Jersey.
