My transceiver is an ELAD FDM-DUO, outputting up to 8W to an RM Italy HLA305 amplifier capable of about 250W. On 40m I use a "TAK-tenna", which is two quarter-wave flat spirals at either end of a 1 meter boom. On 20m I use a center-fed dipole. Both are about 30 feet above ground. For receiving, I use a Wellbrook active loop. (Plan to put up a hexbeam in the spring of 2018.) I use a Basicomm touch paddle and a Bencher straight key.

I operate CW, phone and digital on 40, 20, 17 and 15m.

I've been interested in radio since I was a kid, when my dad bought a Hallicrafters short-wave receiver that quickly became my exclusive property. Some fifty years later I finally got my ticket.

When people ask what I enjoy about the hobby I say it's magical that I can send out radio waves from my back yard knowing that someone hundreds or thousands of miles away will receive and respond.

SKCC number 17600. QSL via QRZ.com and LoTW.

Special thanks to Andrew Phenix, technician extraordinaire, whose assistance keeps my station running well. Also special thanks to our cat Baci who provides invaluable service as a contest spotter (see photo).
