Welcome to my page.

I am located in the small village of Stratford on the river Avon in central Gippsland, Victoria, approximately 200km east of Melbourne.

Like many, I first became interested in radio during the CB craze of the 70's. I was hooked after working Grenada using 4W AM using a quater wave vertucal antenna mounted on a caravan. It took awhile to undertake the exams with other priorities taking up most of my time.

After being absent from the bands for a period of time, I am slowly making a return.

Previous call signs - VK2TQP, VK2JKK and VK3KAT - first licenced in 1999.

Mainly active on digtial modes (FT8/JT65 mainly) on 40, 10 and 6m.

Equipment currently in use:

Icom IC-746 (primarliy used for digital modes) and Icom IC-7000

RIGblaster Advantage, Audio-technica headset

Antennas - Hf/6m - a low dipole, cut for 160m, 10m - 5/8 wave vertical, 2m - 8 element yagi

The shack is currently in my workshop where I work as one of Australia's master picture framers (only a single handfull in the country). So if you see that a signal is making it through to me on one of the loggers, any lack of response may be that work comes first. I normally have 10m running throughout the day on FT8 and it is interesting how often this band opens even when it is in the wrong part of the solar cycle!

Projects in the wind - completing a SSAMP based on the BLF188XR chip, raising a small mast and add a 6m yagi and raise the current 2m yagi and dipole to a more respectable height. Connect and add radials to a pair of 40m phased vertical antennas.
