First licensed in 2000 was involved with the 911 WTC disaster with work and Amateur radio.

I never thought I would be this active in Amateur radio. I guess it all started when I was 10 years old I saw a radio that looked cool in a second hand store. I remember telling my Dad about it. He said what are going to do with it . I didn't know all I knew was that it looked cool a lot of knobs and a big meter in the center.

It was a hammarlund HQ-170 Big grey and full of tubes that glowed a cool color and heated up the space where we set it up quite well. I was amazed at what I heard even with the smallest hunk of wire I could hear stuff. So I got my dad to help me and we put about 200 feet off wire in the trees, WOW what a difference.

Just a little update as many of you might know I am the president of a very active club. The Great South Bay Amateur Radio Club The club does everything from Repeaters, contesting, dxing, Kit building and everything else. We are very strong with public service and emergency communications. Our club has been in QST for our work during super storm Sandy that hit our area very hard .

Our field day station has been rocking the air in the 5F catagory and is always high in the rankings. This year we were 6F ICOM supplied all the radios and WOW that IC 7851 was awesome as well as the 7800 7700 7600 7410 and 9100.
