I am a retired Lieutenant of the Washington, DC Fire Department. This is a picture of my fire truck taken around 2005 near the Washington Monument and yes, that is Marine 1 overhead.
In addition to my firefighting duties, I was the assistant program manager of the National Capital Region Communications Interoperability Group. (COM-L and COM-T trained) We facilitate interoperability between agencies and different public safety jurisdictions on planned events such as the annual July 4 celebrations, Pope Benedict XVI Papal Mass at National Stadium April 2008 and are available for major unplanned expanding incidents.
Since retirement from the fire service I have started a second career as a Technical Support/Training Specialist for a tactical communications company. I am very greatfull my amateur radio hobby has lead me to this second wonderful chapter in my life.
