CQ CQ: Enjoying HAM RADIO One Contact At A Time.

The Thrill Of Operating Amateur Radio In Today's Internet World. To me making new freinds around the world is a treasure.

Erika (KM6HBB) operates on 10 meters       Erika 12 new technician 12/2016            My XYL (Nim) & I

"Harmonics" my daughters Monique and Erika with their dad -my Grandfather and myself together. He's still working at 97.

The art of the protest. In Thailand, by colors; the red shirts and yellow shirts, then pink shirts and even the blue shirts all protested for their cause.

A common site near our home in Bangkok                        Political Cartoon Bangkok. Look Familiar?

My XYL Nim and I at a rally in Bangkok.              Red Shirts - rally down Sukhumvit Road, Bangkok

Shark Fin Restaurant in China Town Bangkok, Girls at a celebration- singing; and my XYL in China Town, for New Years.

My friends at "DOI TUNG" Mae Fah Luang Foundation, a Royal organization that helps many people. The Doi Tung brand of coffee, and prepared foods, nuts and handicrafts are ubiquitious in Thailand. The chairmen M. R. Disnadda Diskul is a friend of the family. His vision has taken Doi Tung to international heights.

The Thai Gang! in Costa Rica. What fun that was, as consultants for Commercial Orchid Farms. We'd head down there, see friends and basically make an excuse for work. The saying, "it is not what you know but who you know" is a true statement. My friends invited me along - always, to amazing places.

A much younger me, first starting out working in Asia (circa 1990) and Nim my XYL posing as usual near a news truck.

Good Friends - a treasure of life. My wife with her friend at Lumpini Park, Bangkok. Sister Lek and Sittisak and I.

Khun Chai (M.R. Disnada Diskul and I)  At Won Sapatum Palace, for a meeting with Sittisak.

Thailand Life: Squid Boat that also sales popcorn. Thai New Year Dance and celebration. White powder to feel cool in the hot heat. April is Thai New Year and 40 to 41 C and humid. The Thai New Year is fun, with lots of water splashing.

Above video: Landing (TOA) Torrance Airport Los Angeles Airspace.

I consider myself lucky to have had the good fortune to learn how to fly. I learned in San Diego and Los Angeles airspace primarily. After earning my private, I kept taking lessons - the Instrument had to be the toughest, the commercial the most fun and the twin engine rating; thrilling! Above left flying over Sadona Arizona in a Piper Dakota. Right, landing Lindburg International airport with my pal Mike Stasio a Captain with United Airlines. He certainly kept me stright that day, LOL.

Our Humble RV

For Summertime and a bit of wintertime fun.

Momo is a 2016 Winnebago Itasca Sunstar. 37 feet long, 57 with the Jeep in tow. Three Slide outs, two bathrooms and sleeps 9 people if needed. Kids have their own bunks, with privacy curtains and TVs. The Jeep is a 4x4 with a hidden tow package, that includes it's own breaking system. I have a two meter ham radio, CB radio and Homepatrol II scanner. Looking to install HF soon. She's fun to tour the country in, so far we have been to 27 States.

Welcome to the bottome of the page:

For long-time Hams:

It is a pleasure to speak to you, learn from you and listen to you on the air. Thanks for sharing your wonderful hobby with newcomers, it means a lot to us to feel welcomed.

To the new Hams:

There is an endless well of knowledge from On-the-air Elmer's, eager to pass on their arcane skillset, all you have to be - is willing to learn.”

Ham Radio is undoubtedly fun, the people on it are interesting and most want to have meaningful conversations (ragchew) with you.

Cheers and 73,

Todd Banks
