Originally licensed in 2002 as KC8SZR. Held a Technician license until March 21, 2016 when I finally paid a visit to the local VE testing session and upgraded to General.
Radios include: Yaesu FT-897, Yaesu FT-8900, Yaesu VX-7R, Icom ID-5100, Icom ID-51a.
I am heavily involved in Civil Air Patrol, and operate Civil Air Patrol radio communications under the callsign of Red Robin 41. More information on Civil Air Patrol can be found at http://miwg.cap.gov or http://www.gocivilairpatrol.com.
My callsign, W8KNX, was selected as a tribute to long-operating KNX 1070, an AM broadcast station in Los Angeles, California. KNX was first licensed as 6ADZ in 1920 and was assigned the callsign of KNX in 1922. The format of KNX has varied over the years, however it is currently serving Los Angeles as a 24 hour news, traffic, and weather station and is currently owned by CBS Radio.
