If you work FT8/JT65/JT9 modes, and do yourself a favor:

Get JTAlert to go with your software!

Thanks for coming to see my page.  If you'd like to talk to me realtime, come find me on irc.geekshed.net (or http://www.geekshed.net/chat/)  in the #redditnet chan.  If I'm not there or paying attention, chances are someone else is.   If you have JTAlert, use the F5 message thing too!

I tend to work a lot of FT8/JT65/JT9 on any band that seems to be cooperating, usually running QRP (0.5-5w), occasionally up to 20w with an off center fed dipole built from junk and a IC-7300. Usually with the "help" of the 4 ferrets currently running the show. Gus, Wally, Pip, and Pixie.

Software I recommend strongly: JTDX combined with JTAlertX. Adding JTAlert has increased my enjoyment of JT65 at least fourfold.  Also, if you use JTAlert, make sure you have discovered the message functions (f5 to open a message window to your current QSO partner) They're awesome considering the limitations for ragchew in JT modes.

I make signs like these, if you want one, send an email and we can discuss it. (Working on my new one, a little behind)

04Mar2017 Changed Callsign from KG5JVF to WE4SEL

25May2016 Upgraded last night to General.

13Apr2016  first CW contact....  boy do I stink at cw.

29Mar2016: Trying hard at CW...still yet to make first QSO.

16Feb2016: have HF Contact, and first international contact.  JT65, annoying as it sounds, did the trick.

24Jan2016: Added a Kenwood TS-570S to the mix, and redisorganizing the shack. Now I get to ham with ferrets around my feet and in my lap. What more could I ask for?

27Dec2015: Have grown a ton. Have a x1m qrp HF that I barely know how to work, with 40m and 10m dipoles up,  have an icom 880H for mobile, and a plumbers j-pole up at home using the HT for a base.....ok, so who needs logical solutions :P

16Oct2015: Brand New....not really much to say yet.  About 25 years late from my first interest......about time I suppose.
