Hi and welcome to my QRZ.com page! I obtained my license in July 2107, where i spent most of my spare time experimenting with VHF & UHF. It is only recently in September 2017 when I got my first HF rig (Icom IC-746) and fell in love with HF since. Started of with just a "inverted V" antenna, which a fellow HAM has helped me build. With the same antenna I have worked my first DX station!!

My new rig, Icom IC-7300

December 2017 I finally had the chance to erect my tower and yagi, and worked plenty DX stations since!

Homebrew 4 & 6m yagi, thanks Andrew ZS2PA

The town of Despatch is situated on rich clay soil and in the late 1800s was the site of a flourishing brick industry. Despatch's name derives from this brick industry history on the account that bricks were dispatched from the original railway siding. Many of the older buildings in Uitenhage and Port Elizabeth were built from these bricks. Most of these early bricks can be identified by the word 'Despatch' imprinted on the top and bottom of the brick. The only reminder of the town's brick industry past is a chimney built in 1882 which formed part of the Brick Works.
