ALL QSL's ARE WELCOME.  I will reply to all electronic QSL's on eQSL.cc, LoTW, and QRZ.  Paper QSL's are great, if you send me a card direct, I will reply.

NOTE TO DX STATIONS: I now use the QSL Bureau, so you can send me cards through it and I will reply through the bureau.

My name is Fleet, and I got my ticket when I was 13, on January 15, 2011. I upgraded to General class on December 15, 2012. I live in upstate South Carolina, in a medium-sized town called Simpsonville. Simpsonville is about 15 miles south-east of Greenville. We are located about 800 feet above sea level.

I was first interested in Ham Radio when the rest of my family got their licenses. After getting my ticket and getting my feet wet in ham radio by talking on a local 2 meter repeater, I grew more interested in getting on HF and talking around the world. My first DX contact was with V55V in Namibia on 10 meters. I am still surprised that he heard me, because I was running 60 watts SSB to an eight foot whip on a friends car. I am slowly making my way toward WAC, DXCC, and WAS, as well as the eQSL.CC and QRZ awards.

Many thanks to the members of the local club (BRARS.org) and to N1LWK for all of the encouragement that they have been to me.

I am involved in a high altitude balloon launch to livestream the August 2017 solar eclipse from 100,000 feet using Amateur Radio.  Follow the project on facebook at: https://www.facebook.com/GRVHAB/

The equipment that I will be using on HF is:

  • Kenwood TS-440s (homebrew interface for digital)
  • Yaesu FT-890 (Donner interface for digital)
  • Kenwood TS-520.

HF ntennas include Homemade Skeleton Sleeve Dipole cut for 20/15 meters at 30 feet, random wire at 30 feet, and a SilverTip Antennas 20 meter vertical.

VHF/UHF equipment is: Radio Shack HTX-212 to a copper J-pole, and a Baofeng UV-3R and UV-5R to a Radio Shack 35 watt amplifier and a tape measure yagi.

I am a member of the ARRL, AOPA, Blue Ridge Amateur Radio Society, IEEE, HamSCI,  and the Y.A.C.H.T. ham group (# 163) .

Here are my first pieces of wallpaper for my shack!!!!
