Brief history

My name is Mike (Mykhailo in Ukrainian lng). I was envolved in Amateur Radio thanks to my father "Alex", aka UR5ECV. Owing father's persistence it was a hard attempt for me (and him too) to learn Morse Code being 10 years old... But two years later, in late 1988's, I finally ran into the air with my rather slow CW calling "CQ CQ..", and then collecting first calls. At that time our family radioshack consisted of old-time 200W military TX+RX called R-250 (not transceiverized) and a simple LW antenna. Nowadays it mostly collects dust at the summer-house; more info about this here (in Russian only).

It had passed pretty much time till I've taken a long awaited exam and got my ever 1st class licence, in Sept.1998. I usually work on 80M-10M using my favourite mode CW at about 76.7%, SSB at 16.9%, and the rest is with Digital modes (after Clublog stats).

Current equipment setup

  • Icom IC-7000 (100W) - main TRCVR
  • Kenwood TS-480 SAT (100W) - back-up and portable operation
  • Elecraft K2 (10W) - back-up and portable operation

PC Interface: RigExpert Plus USB-Interface
Software for digital modes: FLdigi (by Dave, W1HKJ), MMTTY, JT65-HF-HB9HQX-Edition
PA: HF AMPLIFIER-500 (500W) (made by Nickolaj Rodzyan, UR5EJ) - see on the 1st photo
Antennas: mainly simple Dipoles; 2M-40M versatile dipole Buddipole™ by W3FF; Vertical AV-640 by Hy-Gain for 6M - 40M band; other

For /A and /P operations I use Buddipole (Rotary Dipole by W3FF) antenna and my beloved hot IC-7k. That's how it usually done (hi!):

Not only for Data modes but also for major contests I use RigExpert Plus interface. For contests I prefer TR4W logger (thanks to Dmitriy, UA4WLI) and N1MM Logger, and for regular logging I use DXKeeper from DXLab suite. For TRCVR control I frequently use TRX-Manager (the best in its class! Big "thank you" Laurent, F6DEX).

Apparently I help my brother Con, US5ETV with new antennas design projects which would be a pain to tune without RigExpert AA-200 analyzer (really excellent piece of electronics!)

Log data and OQRS

To check if you are in my log (also for contest QSOs) check it within ClubLog.

Using ClubLog's OQRS is always wellcome:

Lookup for UR7EZ/A QSOs also on Clublog.
You can also visit my HRDLog page (updated once per year).

QSL info

My QSL card is 100% via Bureau (it's working good), or, if you wish, via Direct to the address above. When sending direct - no money needed, I will gladly send you my QSL the same way.
If you still need my QSL for some contact(s), please don't hesitate to e-mail me with your QSO(s) data (or use ClubLog Log search with email request above) - and I will surely re-confirm our QSO(s).

Look also for my Amateur radio photo album with chronological QSL designs and other stuff on my Flickr account here.
I fond of DXing, awards chasing (esp. for DXCC, IOTA, UIA , ULA, RRA, RLHA) and I am a paper-QSL collector thus your QSL is much appreciated.

I have eQSL account (AG) and update it some times per year. I am also active LotW member (from 29.04.2016).

See you all on the bands es 73's!
