My Ham History:

I was originally licensed back in 1992 (KD4SUI) as a Technician Plus (passing the 5wpm code test).  I proceeded to get my code speed up to 13wpm and upgraded to General and Advanced class around 1994-1995. When I upgraded to Advanced class, I opted for a new FCC issued 2x2 callsign and got KT4KN.  After many years and some time away from amateur radio, I upgraded to Amateur Extra class in October 2015.  I applied for an Extra Class vanity callsign that was available (AB4MM) and received it from the FCC on March 11, 2016.

Final Thoughts:

I believe we as amateur radio operators are living in one of the best and most exciting times of the hobby.  The new digital voice and data modes are giving us new capabilities as well as new areas to experiment and to advance the radio art.  I also believe that digital voice is the future of the hobby, whether it be using HF or digital VHF/UHF hotspots. I look forward to and embrace the future!
