Aloha! from this former Hawaiian ham operator and retired sailor (USN). I was licensed in 1978 while stationed at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii and transferred to Maryland in mid-1979 for duty with a government agency. I retired from the "canoe club" in 1985 and from that period until 2011, I worked for several engineering and integration companies in the Baltimore/Washington corridor. In July 2011, I fully retired to "honey do's", playing with my grandkids (2), shooting sports: rifle and pistol marksmanship, model building, and Ham Radio. I've been inactive for the last several years, but in 2012 I rekindled my interest and I am now back and a member of the local Ham Club (Columbia Amateur Radio Association (CARA) and playing on the HF bands. I can primarily be found working CW and monitoring the SKCC sked page (see: www.skccgroup.com for details on SKCC - A FREE membership awaits you.) for SKCC CW ops so I can chase their numbers for awards. In 2014, I joined the FISTS club to support their CW program, as well.
I'm a member of: SKCC (#11165); FISTS (#17248); HELL Club (#4360); PODS 070 (#1823) YLISSB (#12447). NRA, Naval Cryptologic Veterans Association (NCVA)/Fleet Radio Unit Pacific (FRUPAC), and the American Legion Ham Club.
I am enjoying the digital modes: PSK, OLIVIA, HELLSCHREIBER, etc... and working CW...If you hear me on CW or SSB or, see my trace on the waterfall, drop in for a ragchew - I enjoy chatting and meeting folks on the bands.
Lately, I've been playing in the numerous state and regional QSO parties and note that in some software, I'm still listed as being in Hawaii; I've been in Maryland since 1979, but... send me $$$ and I'll gladly fly back to Hawaii to work from there for you! So... when you hear my call and 'MD' please, just log it and don't tell me I'm not in MD (lol!). (A note for you 'purists': No, I'm not changing my callsign!)
Note on QSLs - I respond 100% to QSL requests. I use LOTW, QRZ.com and eQSL.cc as well as KH6 Incoming QSL Bureau (effective 1 May 2015). I also send and receive direct QSLs - no SASE required - send a card/get a card - no strings...
