Tante belle cose e buona fortuna

I was born in Aosta Valley (to be precise, in Aosta), on the last day of 1956. I got a crush on radio in the Seventies, and I then started on the Citizen Band. You've already heard that story, I guess: an handy on 27 Mhz, and the first contacts with friends living in my area. In 1989, I got my “basic” license, being given IW1CAY as call. It allowed me to start as an OM, on VHF and UHF bands. In 1990, I passed the CW exam, and upgraded to a full privileges license, with IX1CLD as call. I was then able to move my first steps on HF, in SSB and RTTY. Propagation, back then, was really good and with a really simple equipment you could achieve wonderful results! In 1994, for different reasons, I stopped being active, but months ago, “fault” of a couple OM friends, I restarted this wonderful hobby, and here I'm again “on the air”.

IX1 prefix, assigned by national laws to the Autonomous Region of Aosta Valley, is quite rare, since operators active in the DXing domain, more or less seriously (HI), are just a few. I think fingers of two hands are enough to count them!
all the best & good luck
