New to 144 mhz EME- July 2016.  Started with single HyGain 14 element and 160 watt amp.  Using WSJT and FT817 for radio.  First ever EME QSO with DK3WG- thrilling !!

Upgraded to 2 X Hygain 14 element as pictured below 9/2016.  Acquired Larcan amp - 700 watts output.  I operated the fall of 2016 from a popup camper in the back lot.  Perfect shot to the moon, no houses around.

Moved station to back of garage late Fall 2016, antennas still turned by hand.  EME shack located in a 8 ft by 8 ft room behind the main garage. It got a little cold in January !  As of 4/1/2017, over 240 contacts were made using this setup.

8/1/2017 update- installed 12 foot Rohn 25 tower.  Retired the HyGain antennas, now using 2 X 10 element K5GW design on 18 foot booms.  Antennas are RPOL, using 2 rotors to provide 0-180 degree polarization.  Az-El controlled by G-5500 rotor, with Pstrotor for full automated moon tracking.

As of 9/1- 300 QSOs with 47 countries.

I am very thankful for a quiet rural location, hardly any noise coming from other houses, etc.

Best QSO's so far:

VE7SL -Steve was using 9 elements and 140 watts !  Quite a remarkable QSO, I nearly fell out of my chair when the decodes came through.

Another good one was with G4TRA Steve, he was using a single 11 element Yagi and 400 watts.

And- JT0YPS in August.  Small 2X Yagi station DXpedition. I still can't believe I made a QSO with Zone 23 on 2 mtrs !

Back Field -Summer 2016

Perfect shot to the moon from the field

2 X 10 RPOL
