I was first licensed as WN6QDE in 1968, but the obligatory girls, cars, beer and college put a big gap in my progress. So 18 years ago while in the TV repair business, I took a Zenith Transoceanic H500 as payment for repairing a 1939 Admiral AM Shortwave 78 rpm floor radio. Searching for parts for the Zenith got me to the Foothill Ham Radio swap meet and a Tech+ license shortly after. ~100 trips to the Livermore and Foothill swap meets later and you can imagine what a glorious collection of junk I have amassed to fill that 30 year gap between Novice and General. Finally married now, my wife continues to ask "how many of those do you need?" as I uselessly try to justify my collection of Heathkit VTVMs. My daughter Natalee here loves doorknob capacitors. Natalee is now 8 years old and loves to go with me to the Foothill/now De Anza College Electronics Swap Meet.
