This station is located in Cohasset, MN which shares it's eastern border with Grand Rapids, MN - about 80 miles NW of Duluth - 95 miles S of International Falls, MN - 160 miles ENE of Fargo, ND.  The winters are usually long and cold and the summers are too short, but it's a great place for all kinds of outdoor activities.

My interest in radio began as a very young SWLer using a Hallicrafters S-38E I received as a Christmas present back in the late 50's. I took some ham classes in the early 60's, but didn't take an actual test until 1975 when I became a novice WN0QJJ.  I then went the whole license route: Tech, General, Advanced and finally Extra.  I'm not a CW person and pretty much stopped using CW the day I passed my General. I built a Heathkit SB-303 receiver before getting my novice as an incentive to get my license.  In the 70's and early 80's my station grew as I built virtually the entire SB series (my wife said we owned a large part of Heathkit).  I still do a lot more listening than talking, but that is something I plan to adjust now that I am retired.

Due to some deed restrictions at this location, I was restricted to wire antennas hanging from trees for about 10 years.  Originally I had IAC Bazookas for 160, 75, 40 and 20.  A couple of storms in the last few years took down the tall trees, so I now have 160M, 75M & 40M IAC bazookas in a less than optimal configuration.  I also have a GAP Titan DX vertical 'hidden' among some trees.  In 2015, I did get the OK for a "short tower, just a little higher than the roof top".  My elderly Mosley TA-33 with 17M & 12M updates is at 32 ft and a 3-element 6M beam a little higher.

Rig is a Flex-6700 fed into an ALS-1300.  A  Telepost LP-700 with sensors before and after the ALS-1300 provide output power and swr monitoring as well as power and swr alarms.  The LP-700 also displays a number of other realtime parameters including amplified signal linearity.  The output ALS-1300 goes to a DX Engineering antenna switch outside.  Coax after the ALS-1300 are all LMR-400 or the DX Engineering equivalent.

I also have a small station in Eagle Harbor, MI which I use in summer.

I QSL 100% direct or through the 3905 CCN bureaus for 3905 CCN net contacts - SASEs never needed.  I do not QSL via eQSL-sorry!
