Thanks for stopping by.

First licensed on October 20, 2008 as a General Class with call KJ4HII.
Upgraded to Extra Class March 20, 2009.
Acquired vanity call KB4RG on October 20, 2009.

My primary focus is emergency communications, but I also enjoy participating in local nets, HF contacts, and many digital modes. You can find my signal on some HF band using WSPR most of the time.

I have been active in ARES since earning my license and currently participate in Texas District 12 activities.

Completed EmComm Level 1. FEMA courses 100, 200, 700, 800, and 802.

Certified SKYWARN Spotter.

80M resonant dipole inverted V with top at 40'
40M resonant dipole configured as NVIS at 7' with full length reflector at 6" above ground
HF receive antenna: 31' vertical RV mounted - top at 34'
27' Vertical on 9' mast with elevated radials. 20M through 6M
VHF antenna: Hustler G7-144 on 20' mast - top at 35'
VHF-UHF Hustler G6-270R on 24' mast - top at 33'
VHF to 2 GHz: Discone for all band receiver on 20' mast - top at 25'

Carolina Windom

This full length wire antenna operates in its own 2 acre field. All surrounding terrain is completely flat and consists mostly of farm land. Every band 160M to 6M tunes to very low SWR with the internal tuner on the Kenwood TS-2000. It performs at least two times better than than the 31' vertical. The photo below needs to be updated to show new orientations of 80M dipole and 160M Carolina Windom which are 45 degrees apart.

265' Carolina Windom at 44'

Thank-you to all who mentored me and to those who I have had the good providence to meet over the air.
