My interest in amateur radio started back in the1960's as a SWL. I started listening to 80M and 40M hams on my Zenith Transoceanic Model R600 AM SW radio. I still have it and it works great . I restored it by installing new capacitors, resistors, and tubes (try finding a 1L6 or 50A1) http://www.zenithtrans-oceanic.portabletubes.co.uk/1l6.htm. I became an amateur radio operator in 2011. My base rig is a Kenwood TS480 SAT, (100 watts) with  RTL SDR Panadapter, Omni Rig computer control software, and HDSDR software. Antenna's are a homebrew 1/2 wave three band fan dipole for 20,17 and 15 meters and a Van Gorden Engineering shortened 40M dipole. The Kenwood will tune both antenna's for use on 12, 10 and 6 meters. My location is Lockport, N.Y., which is about 20 miles north of Buffalo, N.Y. and 15 miles east of Niagara Falls, N.Y.

Lower Niagara River trout and Lake Ontario brown trout (30 inch) both caught (and released ) fly fishing.

My interests are many, I do enjoy the outdoors, living near the Great Lakes provides me with the opportunity to fly fish for trout and salmon and yes I do tie my own flies.

The good old days when life was simple ! I still enjoy turning wrenches in the garage.

I support the DX code of Conduct ! Always listen before you call !
