Hello thanks for looking at my bio...I live just north of Pittsburgh Penna...just recieved my ham license April 2013when I passed my Tech. and two days later I passed my General and on 9/3/2014 passed my Extra Class not that taking a multiple question test makes you a ham radio operator but it does give me the means to better myself and chat with other fine radio operators like yourself. So many of you  folks have helped me understand more with each day and I appreciate it. .why we all love this hobby...'..special thanks to my son Bobby (kb3smz) for helping me get this far..never could have done it without his gentle nudges along the way..aslo we have a small group of hams here in Pittsburgh Pa. we call ourselves "The nuts and Bolts Net"...10m 28.430 usb and Thursday is Am nights same freq...stop in would love to hear from new hams...

I enjoy talking all over the world and so far have had a ball making contact with some very nice folks over the past several years..My current equipment for a long time has been limited to an old Antron 99 with grd. plane kit...works well with this older Icom IC-738 into a Heil Proset headset that works great.. antenna works great on 15m and 17m as well as 10m..sometimes old things can still work..

Just about two years ago with help from my son (kb3smz) we were able to make up a simple dipole for 20 m and done like the older hams used whatever they had laying around ..just scrap wire and wired and soldered to rg-8 and with no other work needed it tuned perfect 1-1..not bad for my first home made antenna...and it`s only up about 15 feet...should be ready for some winter time fun on 20m....in July of 2017 we made up also a 40m dipole up about 35 feet on a field day style expandable pole so now I have several options for qso`s..

On a personal note I have been married for the past 47 years and have three children and three grandsons. and just recently made a great grand father...I am also a former US NAVY vet(USS TALBOT DEG-4) from 1970-1976 and still enjoy chatting with a lot of my former shipmates via internet and facebook and the ham bands...and if possible if we have had a qso please confirm on QRZThanks again.Once again PLEASE CONFIRM..trying to get my other awards with your help maybe I can...73

Thanks for looking 73`Bob
