I am now using DSTAR with the Kenwood TH-D74A HT mostly thru my Raspberry Pi 3 B w/ DVMega Dual Band HotSpot, every now and then I'll link thru the NV4FM repeater in Tyson's Corner, VA. I'm also up on DMR now using the TYT MD-380 loaded with MD380Tools firmware (update: just picked up a Hytera PD-682G-U1 and amd really enjoying that HT) thru a BlueDV HotSpot or linking thru the Herndon, VA N3QEM Repeater. I'm participating in the VA RACES/ARES Winlink Wwednesday Winmor HF and WinLink VHF packet email using my FT-857D + YT-100 Tuner + Signal Link USB, SoundModem and RMS Express. I recently purchased a Kantronics KAM-XL and will be setting up a Packet BBS someday. I have been using FLDigi with CW and PSK31 and a few other digital modes, having lots of fun with it. I'm in a condo with strict policies about permently mounted antenna so mine are on tripods and secured with heavy sand bags, they are temperary and I do remove them when I am away form home or when the winds get whipping. I use several sets of Ham Sticks in a dispole config for local and regional comms, Chameleon High Effeciency Verticle for most digital modes and long haul comms and Diamod X-30A up 30' for 2m/70cm work.
I Volunteer with local CERT, local ARES, local RACES and am the Emergency Operations Officer @ Vienna Wireless Society ( viennawireless.net ). Check out my Home/Go-Kit here: https://flic.kr/s/aHskBT3zYb
