NEWS UPDATE - MAY 19th

1) The planned IOTA DXpedition by an international team to Tigres Island, AF-108 is rescheduled. This was primarily due to the fact a license was not received on time. Basically, INACOM (licensing authority) changed the way all new license applications are handled making it pretty difficult if you're not a resident of Angola. Thankfully, Mike UA1QV (D3AA) helped solve our problem, and we now have confirmation of D2TI (Tigres Island). However it's too late to apply for visas. We held off as long as possible (after waiting many months for license), but it's not to be for early next month. Instead, we will focus on dates sometime early 2018, making sure we plan this activity well in advance with experienced team.

2) AF-111 will be attempted early November. A small team is in place. A recce trip was carried out at the start of the year to ascertain where Baiyah island actually is, and what it looks like. It looks very much like Pelikan Island, NA-247. I suspect it won't be easy, but let's see - we like a challenge :) A second recce trip will occur in a few weeks from now to identify landing stages and best area to set up stations. A special callsign has been applied for. Two members of the Liberian Radio Amateur Association will be joining the team. Website available in a few weeks.

Born in March 1976, Col had an early interest in amateur radio through his father, GM1RIG. As the years passed, being a keen SWL, he became MM0NDX in December 2003.

Not one to collect or chase awards, Col is more interested in gathering DX news. He started a small blog called hamspirit.wordpress.com in April 2007. This was his first experience in blogging DX snippets and it soon became a smash hit.

In early 2008, dx-hamspirit.com was born. It went from strength to strength, often breaking DX news or providing exclusive videos/images of DXpeditions.

In January 2009, DX World.net was created. As owner/editor/publisher, Col thanks its global readership for continued support. Through an advertising campaign, DX World is sometimes able to donate/sponsor upcoming DXpeditions, particularly IOTA.
