Hello & welcome to my QRZ page.
See my home web page at http://jlwallace.net/hamradio/index.html.

I've been a ham since 1979 and got my Extra Class with CW in 1981.  I'm back into CW after a 22 year hiatus and really enjoying it.  The Straight Key Century Club are the best bunch of CW Ops around. Check them out!  SKCC # 6459S  and FISTS # 15404

Currently in the shack I'm running a IC-7410 and AT-100ProII autotuner into a G5RV antenna as a sloper from 20' to 30' running almost NorthWest to SouthEast.  Also have a tri-band fan-dipole for 20-15-10M at 45 ft. and a single element TriLo at 48 ft. for 6m.   In October 2015, I put up a 160m End-Fed at 35 ft. and still making grounding & radial modifications to it for better radiation.

I'm currently using a 1963 Vibroplex Presentation bug and have a Czeck Army straight key for QRS Ops.   I seem to collect a lot keys but these are my favorites..

Left:Czech Army key is the smoothest & quietest straight key I've ever used. I have 3 of them. They're on eBay at times.
Right: 1963 Vibroplex Presentation "bug" with some extra big weights to go about 16 wpm.  Sure easier on a CTS wrist.

On VHF/UHF, I have a IC-910 to a Comet GP-6 vertical for FM but hope to get up horizontal beams for SSB. I also have a RMS/Packet station on 145.750 for WL2K "Airmail" to support the Prince George's County ARES.  Just put up a halo at 45 ft. for 6 Meters but hope to soon get my 5 el. beam up for Six.  Wow, when Six opens it sure is fun.

N3ADF/m at Kennedy Point State Park, Titusville, FL.

My mobile station is a '08 Dodge Dakota Club Cab and rigs consist of IC-7000 with LDG Z-100 Tuner to a full set (80m-10m) of Hustler Mobile whips for HF and a Diamond DR8900R for 10-6-2 & 440 FM.  I also have a Yaesu FT8800R with two Diamond NR72-B antennas for 2/440 FM.  Soon, I hope to have a laptop on board for RMS Express WinLink & WinMor.  Then I'd be fully ARES/RACES ready from the truck.

I'm also into HSMM-Mesh at both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz.   Currently, I have 6 Linksys routers converted and a few Ubiquiti Bullets with hi-gain antennas.   I'm hoping to get a HSMM network going here in Pr. Geo's Co. MD between the hospitals and the EOC for better high speed/bandwidth EmComms.

I retired Aug. 2009 after 30 years with The Washington Post Newspaper as an industrial technician. Currently enjoying retirement, maintaining 3 web page sites and ham radio. See my Ham Radio page.  I've been married to Nancy Lee (nee Spahr) 42 years. Her father was K3TZI (sk).  Her mother, Nancy Rose lives with us.  We have two grown daughters and 5 grand children.  It is a joyous house I share with four generations of females.  I do have my 'Man Cave' as can be seen above at top.

I am the AEC - Web Master for the Prince George's County, MD ARES, call sign W3PGC.  We serve the County EOC, 6 hospitals, 2 Health Depts. and county shelters as needed.  Our RMS Packet Nodes are W3PGC-10 on 145.750 and KA3AHI-10 on 145.750.  I'm also a member of the National Capital Radio TV Museum  and club radio station K3RTV.  I'm also a member of the Anne Arundel Radio Club - W3VPR.org, where I'm helping to refurbish the club house and station shack.  AARC is the host club for the Maryland QSO Party.

I am a born-again Christian and a member of the Cornerstone AG Church where I'm on the Creative Arts Team.  View or listen to the services or the Pastor's Blog at http://cag.org under the Media tab.  Other interests include the Clan Wallace Society Worldwide.  I'm also a Knight Commander in the Priory of King Charles the Martyr (Wash. DC) of the Sovereign Military Order of the Temple of Jerusalem (SMOTJ).

Please QSL here on QRZ.com , LoTW or Direct and always answered - SASE is appreciated.  I upload all QSOs to LoTW & QRZ.com monthly.
