Hello and thanks for viewing my page. I live in Valrico, Florida, east of Tampa. I was originally licensed back in the 90s as a technician (KF4ZXD). I then passed the 5 wpm morse code test and obtained my technician plus license. Life got in the way so I was out of the hobby for many years. I got bit by the ham bug again and passed the general exam in June 2016. My HF setup is an Icom 7200 and a buddipole antenna. Unfortunately, I am unable to put up an antenna farm at my QTH. You will usually find me on the digital modes (PSK and JT65). I love being able to work the world with just a few watts. I have recently starting playing around with D-Star (ID-880H and ID-91AD) and DMR (TYT MD-380 and DV4mini), and I am really enjoying meeting new people on those modes.

My Icom family (7200 and 880H)

Buddipole antenna in a vertical dipole configuration ready to be raised (shoutout to KD5RXT for the configuration)

I also enjoy operating QRP portable with my Yaesu 817 and MFJ-1899t portable whip antenna. With a tape measure counterpoise, this is a great antenna. I most often operate JT65 with a Wolphilink adapter and Asus Windows tablet. Truly amazing how far 3 watts can go using JT65.

My Australian Shepherd radio partner "Chloe". While I like to think she enjoys the hobby, it is probably the fact that I am sitting in one place giving her attention.
