Ham Member Lookups: 1713

I'm a second generation ham, my parents being WA8MFL and WA8VXE. I've always been around amateur radio, but didn't get my license until the code requirement was dropped.

I got my ham license in April 2003 as KC8WMM, upgraded to General Class in June 2008 and Amateur Extra in November 2009. I'm currently a member of SMARS and  held the position of Secretary for several years. In 2009, I applied for my VE credentials and currently have more attended more than 100. I'm interested in computers, specifically Linux, and hope to get more involved in some projects involving ham radio applications in Linux. And maybe now that I don't have to learn morse code, I might make a more serious effort to learn it.

I'm currently using a Yaesu FT-450D and W8AMZ OCFD for HF work with an Icom IC-2820H for UHF/VHF/digital work.

I'm having a lot of fun trying to work DX  these days, I can hear much more than I can work. I wish the shack in the picture was mine, but it's really a picture taken at W1AW in July 2014.
