Having just moved from a small city lot to a new home on 5 acres of land in December 2013 it is nice to have room for antennas and towers with no HOA to deal with. Better yet my zoning permits communication towers so no special permits  needed.

Currently the antenna system consist of a U.S. Tower HDX 555 55 foot tower with a Mosley Pro 67B-3 beam at 58 feet for 40 through 10 meters. For 160 meters I have a diople feed with ladder line tuned at the tower with a remote tuner at 50'.  For receive I have active loop receive only antenna . I have a 67 foot vertical tuned at the base for 30, 40, 60 and 80 meters in the field.

The station consists of some old and new transceivers however the rig I use most is the Flex 6700 or the Yaesu FTDX-5000 driving an Ameritron AL-1500 amplifier.  I also have a Yaesu 950 I use as a backup, digital and for portable operations.  I have some legacy equipment I like to use on tube nights which consists of  my first sideband radio a Swan 500C and the matching 2K amplifier a Swan Mark II vintage 1968.  Next is the second radio I owned a Henry Radio Temo 2020 vintage around 1975.  It is fun running equipment that goes back before the micro processors and surface mount technology.  I guess you can see I never sell the old just add to the station.

At some time in the future I would like to add some more vintage equipment like Drake and Collins equuipment as I have two more open ports in my radio selector switch.

I was first licensed as WB6VXT in 1966. I have always loved radio and got my commerical phone license in 1973 and was chief engineer for KRNO-FM, KWNZ-FM and KCBN-AM in Reno Nevada.

I enjoy collecting and restoring antique radios as well as amateur radio.
