September 2014

The picture is of my grand daughter and me in St. Augustine, FL.

May 2009,

My daughter Emily WE4MB was unable to attend Dayton this year (2009) because her school year was extended by 4 days and she had to take finals. I did however come back after Dayton and picked her up we headed out to Indianapolis so she could help operate the Special Event Station W9IMS and go to the Indy 500. We had a blast.

After the Dayton Hamvention in May 2008 My daughter WE4MB and I were invited to help operate the Special Event Station W9IMS (Whiskey Nine Indianapolis Motor Speedway). We had a great time and made a lot of good friends there. I don't think I've ever enjoyed operating as much as I did at W9IMS. What a GREAT bunch of people!

I've loved Amateur Radio since I was a kid, but didn't get my license until I was much older. I have a daughter who is also a ham (Extra Class), her call is WE4MB. I have an ALS-600 amp I use with my IC-746. In my shack I also have a Kenwood TS-570D that I use mostly for digital and soundcard modes. For HF I have a 530 foot loop antenna. I belong to the Cleveland Amateur Radio Club and the club has the GREATEST bunch of people you'll ever meet, I also belong to ARRL, EAST TENNESSEE DX ASSOCIATION, TENNESSEE CONTESTING GROUP, SERA (SOUTHEASTERN REPEATER ASSOCIATION) ( I am SERA TN Director and East TN Frequency Coordinator), ARES, ACS (AUXILIARY COMMUNICATION SERVICE) of Cleveland/Bradley County TN and TN ARMY MARS. My ARMY call is AAV4SZ. I am also the Amin. Officer for TN with the billet call AAM4ATN.

I recently found the joy and excitment of 6 meter DX. For 6 meters I use my IC-746 and a 6 meter hexbeam. I have made contacts all over the US and Canada with this amazing antenna.

You can catch me on WM4RB 145.310- PL 141.3 in Georgetown, TN or WE4MB repeater 442.025+ PL 100.0 located in Georgetown, TN.
