Hi and thanks for looking me up. If we've had, or are having a QSO, thank you for the contact.

I'm currently located in a small village to the North of Honiton in Devon, UK on the edge of the Blackdown Hills which are designated as an area of outstanding natural beauty. The shack window provides a stunning view over the valley and for miles into the distance as the shack is about 136m (447ft) above sea level - almost the highest point locally.  WAB ST00  I've added some images of the views further down this page.

My small shack is situated in a 8'x6' shed purposely bought, insulated and fitted out for use as a radio room, to help with relations between myself and the station manager. I can play radio, she can watch TV, everyone's happy :)

The main radio here is a Kenwood TS-850SAT using Ham Radio Deluxe for CAT control, logging & digimodes. I use either an MC-60A or a boom mounted Shure SM58 mic for phone. I have SignaLink USB interface for digimodes, although in the past I used a homebrew interface.

The main antenna for this radio is a simple multiband wire (or fan) dipole with wires tuned for 80m, 40m, 20m, 17m & 10m. The 40m dipole also tunes on the third harmonic of 15m. The internal ATU is capable of tuning the remaining bands.

Amazingly, my antenna analyser reports that 2m is also resonant, although I've never tried it.

The secondary antenna is a Hustler 5-BTV vertical with wire counterpoises laid in the grass. I have done a 17m modification to the antenna which is documented on my website - details here

The second HF radio is a Yaesu FT-747 which I use mainly for listening.

For VHF/UHF I use a Yaesu FT-7800R, the antenna is a high gain mobile antenna mounted on a homebrew counterpoise which is situated high up in a tree. This works well enough for local repeater working, and a couple of repeaters nearly 50 miles away, due to the altitude and rural location of my QTH.

When walking about I use a Yaesu VX-6R handie for 2m/70cms. I also have a couple of Vertex Standard PMR radios programmed for the UK PMR channels, the 70cm calling channel and a couple of other 70cm frequencies.

I occassionally get on Echolink, but don't consider this to be "real" radio  :)
