my name is Rudolf; I was born in 1945. I'm a mechanical Engineer, but more than 20 Years I worked in the IT Environment of a telecommunications company. Now I'm retired.

My first license I got it on 1976. At this time I was only on Frequencies above 144 MHz in SSB QRV (I'm not able to work CW). Since the Year 2002 it is in Switzerland allowed to use all Amateur Radio Frequencies without knowledge of CW. Now I'm often in Shortwave in the air. Since Decembre 2010 I'm also in digi-modes QRV. But, sometimes I have trubbles with my operating, please give me credit. My membership number is EPC # 17666 and my EU area is EU.CH.BE. I like Contests and to collect QSL cards for Awards.

  • My Equipment: ICOM IC-703; ICOM IC-706MK II; ICOM IC-7200; ICOM IC-718 (for digital Modes); ICOM IC-202 plus 100 W PA from Microwave; ICOM IC-451E (all modes 430 MHz) plus 60 W PA from TONO; Sommerkamp FT-480R (all modes 144 MHz); SignaLink USB Interface and MixW for digi Modes; LDG Tuner
  • Antennas: 2 Element SteppIR (6 to 20 m); Trap-Dipole 30/40/80 m (2 x 13 m); 7 Element Yagi 2 m; 11 Element Yagi 70 cm; 20 dB Preamplifier at the UHF/VHF Antennas; all Antennas are 12 m over the ground
  • Computer: HP Compaq 8200 Desktop, 3.3 GHz CPU, RAM 16 GB, 230 GB HD, Windows 7, MixW 3.2.1 (for common digi-modes like RTTY, BPSK, OLIVIA etc.), HB9HQX Edition for JT65 (tnx Beat for your excellent Job!!), FT8 Version 1.8.0-rc3 (tnx to Joe K1JT, to Steven K9AN and the Team for all the work!!), Logbook HamOffice Version 6
  • Location: I'm nearby Bern the capital City of Switzerland in the locator JN36RW (look at the map below). For H26 Award I represent the canton of Bern (abbr. BE) if I'm QRV at my home Station. Abbr. and borders of all others Switzerland canton you find also in the map.

My Logbook from December 2003 (this is my Startpoint of Shortwave transmission) until today is on two different Places:

  • on CLUBLOG:
  • and on LotW

Bi-monthly (+/- 20th of the month Feb, Apr, June, Aug, Oct and Dec) I will upload my Logbook to LotW and to CLUBLOG

My QSL Policy is: every first direct (not via Repeater!) Contact on each Band or new Mode I confirm via Bureau with a QSL Card! If you wish to QSL direct, please send me your card with a SAE. Don't worry about the postage! You paid from your Country to me, I will pay from Switzerland back to you. SWL Reports are welcome too and will be answered the same way (Bureau or direct) I received. I also use LotW for all my contacts I had.

Other Callsigns (special prefixes) I used: HB7MXY (during the Year 1979; 50th Anniversary of USKA (Switzerland's Amateur Radio Club)), HE7MXY (1991; 700th Anniversary of the Swiss Confederation) and HE8MXY (2009; 80th Anniversary of USKA).

I'm still working on the WAE Top Award (the goal is 70 DXCC in Europe and 300 band Points; in my log are 69 DXCC confirmed and 317 band Points I have); missing European DXCC are: HV, R1FJ and SV/A). It is very hard to work Stations in that areas and it is much harder to become a QSL card from there! It seems that i have reached now the WAE Top Award (confirmation is end of october 2017 outstanding). Worldwide I worked 225 DXCC (221 are confirmed).

I'm also an IOTA-Chaser; actualy there are more than 200 IOTA references confirmed in my log. But, there are a lot more to work!

I hope I can contact you on one of our Frequencies

73 de Rudolf
