Ham Member Lookups: 1487

I was a shortwave radio listener when I was a kid and used to ride my bike to HRO and Heathkit stores in Anaheim any chance I got. Got interested in DX listening and Antenna construction and loved getting QSL cards from around the world. By the time I got to college I had built my first Heathkit project a 2 Meter HW-2036 and Power Supply which still works to this day. I was a member of the first Ham Radio Club at Disneyland when there was an auto patch repeater on the Matterhorn in the early 80's. In the late 80's I relocated to the Pacific Northwest and eventually settled on the southend of Whidbey Island in Washington State.
I am currently a member of ARRL, Island County Amateur Radio Club, and PAPA Systems in So. California.
My interest are currently in digital and QRP comunications and figuring out how to get my "ham shack" remotely connected to my easy chair on my outdoor covered patio. I am enjoying the Sharkrf Openspot and using Echolink, Fusion, DSTAR and DMR protocols to connect to the world. I just recently got back into HF and playing with a new candy apple red QRP radio the ELAD FDM-DUO which is a cross between a Ferrari race car for style, a KX3 for function and a Flex Radio for SDR. I have strung up a 130' HF end fed wire antenna in some tall trees on my property to my outdoor patio "ham shack" and plan to experiment with some different antenna configurations.
