Brian here, KK4KTV.  I am located in South Central Kentucky in the small sleepy town of Liberty.  I am a member of the Lake Cumberland Amateur Radio Association (LCARA).  I primarily operate on 2 meters and 70 cm.

Here in Casey County, I am the Assistant EC with our local ARES group.  We have our first repeater on the air and could not be more thrilled.

In the shack, my primary radio is a Kenwood TM-271 with a D-104 microphone.  I also have a Yeasu FT-90 and a Kenwood TM-733 in the shack.  These are ran to a Diamond X50 antenna and a small home brew J-pole.  My HF rigs include a Yaesu FT-1000MP on a Gap Titan DX.  The  gap is located a little over 100 ft from my QTH fed with RG-213.  All made possible with an Ameritron Tuner + ALS-600, although after installing the Gap, the tuner seems to sit.  I've had a lot of fun on 10 meter since the band opened up and I love tuning to the lower end of the spectrum and listening.  I also run a Alinco DR-1200T with an MFJ-1274 TNC for packet radio.

My mobile setup includes a Kenwood NX-200 for my public service use, and an additional Kenwood TM-733 with a dual band Diamond antenna.  Also at times I enjoy taking my Icom 706 to work with me and do a little tuning in my down time.  I am a small time guy with a small town setup, but I enjoy myself.

I am a nationally licensed Paramedic and a Firefighter.  I serve as a Lieutenant for Boyle Co. EMS in Danville, KY and a Firefighter in Liberty in central Kentucky.  I have a beautiful wife and 2 awesome children, ages 2 and 6.  We as a family attend Southland Christian Church in Danville, KY.  I am also a membe of my local Masonic Lodge, Caftsman #722.  God is love and first.

My interest in radios came when I was about 12 years old.  I had always wanted a scanner to listen to the local fire companies on their calls.  Coming from a family of firemen, certainly I felt the need to want to be one.  After a couple of years, my Dad bought me a CB ht.  Wow, this was great.  I officially had the bug.  As time passed, I upgraded my 11 meter gear and soon realized 11 meter just wasn't where I wanted to be.  So several years passed and I began to study for my Tech Class license.  I still enjoyed radio, I used them with public service, but that was boring.  I needed more of a thrill.  Well, the rest is history, I'm on the air now and hopefully I can gather some time and upgrade.  Something about having those babies under daddies arms that keeps me from studying.  But in due time.  The hobby will remain here, the babies grow up.

I think that's enough about me.  But I will say that I come from a family of firemen and now my family has all decided to get their tickets.  So, my brother, dad, uncle and a cousin of mine (all firemen) have gotten their tickets!  I guess if your going to do it, keep it in the family.

Heres the family.  Dad  KN4EWH- Terry;  Brother  KK4JKO-  Ben;  Uncle  KK4EYF-  Chuck;  Cousin  KK4QWF-  Mark

Hope to catch you on the air! 73
