Welcome to the OM2GM page

I became interested in HAM radio, as a 15 year old high-school student, trained at the OK3KVL radio club. Consequently, I earned my first ham license in 1972, and started my ham activity with a novice OL8CBF call-sign.  I upgraded to the next level in 1975, and became OK3CLD. Soon after, my studies took me to Prague, where at the Czech Technical University, I became an active member of OK1KUR, the University club station.

Returning home, after earning my electrical engineering degree, I founded OK3KXK radio club.  I passed on the love of ham radio to several generations (8-14 years old local students). I also worked as a coach, being an active member of the Slovakian HF contest team.

I left the hobby, as I started my family, and was taking on more and more responsibility in my professional and private life. In October 2014, after a long 24 years break, a friend of mine, another amateur radio enthusiast, asked me the question: “What are you going to do when you retire?”

It did not take much thinking, before I passed my amateur extra class exam, and became the proud owner of the OM2GM call-sign. By the end of 2014, I was on the air with my initial radio setup, and shortly after, upgraded to a much more serious HAM radio station.

                    Air view of my QTH

I NEVER USED MORE THAN 100W RF power at this QTH.

I am using an SP7IDX HD, a 6-band HEX beam with an MC-1200 mast, at about 13m height, since May 2016.

HEXbeam + 83m Loop with Ugly balun at 10m on mast

I also installed a horizontal 83m long Loop antenna, fed by a 1:4 Guanella and an "ugly" balun, raised by a

pulley on the mast near by the SPID RAU antenna rotator. The KAT3 antenna tuner tunes it to 1:1.2 SWR

on all bands from 10-80m.

The picture below was taken from 20m height by a drone. Thanks to my friend Peter (ex OK3CPX).

I re-started my amateur radio hobby in December 2014:                    After May 2015:
