Having retired in June 2016 from teaching high school English, I find I have more time to work Amateur Radio. When I am not wrting my novels.

Prior to teaching I was a Special Agent for the Air Force Office of Special Investigations.

I still need a few QSLs on 80 meters to get my 5 Band DXCC.  If I am lucky, the band will open and since I have time now, I may get them before too many years pass.

Trying real hard to make the DXCC Honor Roll, but need more DXpeditions to do so.

I was first licensed in 1979 as a Novice with call sign KA4HWX, and then took the General test, but kept the same call. Now that I am currently an Extra Class License, I decided to get a vanity call and was assigned my last choice of W3ML.

I also held KA2JP, while stationed in Japan with the U.S.. Air Force. I was also in Air Force Mars at that time.

Amateur Radio Operating Activities: DXCC; active DX chaser; HF contester and an early packet radio user; also enjoy BPSK 31 and RTTY. I have started using JT65 and hope that activity between countries increases.

You can usually find me chasing DX on 20, 18 or 21 MHz and the low Bands. I use a Yaesu FT-2000D and a 3-element triband or the 40 and 80 meter dipole antennas.

The Kenwood TS-2000 is used to work 2 meter SSB and FM operations.

I recently purchased the Icom 7300 and Ameritron ALS-1306.

I use LOTW. Please QSL direct or via the W3 QSL Bureau, if you need or want to send a card.

Other activities related to radio:

I am the President of the Northwest Indiana DX Club. http://nwidxclub.weebly.com/

If you live in Northern Indiana and would like to be a member of the DX Club just email me. w3ml@w3ml.com

As trustee of the KN9OX repeater, we purchased a new Yaesu Fusion Digital repeater.

I also purchased the FT400 for the Fusion Digital system to try out this new digital operating.

I am a Past ARRL Section Manager for Indiana.

Hope to work you on the bands.

73 John, W3ML
