Friendly greetings from my station in central South Africa. I've become an unrestricted Radio Amateur in 2003 with the call of ZS4JAN. My elmer, now silent key was OM Frans Heidler ZS4AE. He helped me from the age of 10 years. My main activities is HF contesting, DX, QRP and hunting awards in the following modes - SSB, CW, AM, PSK31, JT65, FT8, RTTY, SSTV. My contest/special event call is ZT4T. I am a Yaesu collector, and enjoy collecting valves (tubes), valve boxes, and vacuum tube related items for my little museum. When I'm not in front of my radios, I'm busy homebrewing or designing new electronic projects.

A small part of my valve collection. A lot of transmitting valves on the right hand side. In the lower middle is an Air Force valve plier used on the Collins KWM2 series for emergence field repairs. In the middle is an assorted mix of valve sockets & anode caps. Higher up is a few glass crystals. Below this display cabinet is another display with a series of small valves.

A small valve box collection.

My station currently is not surrounded by big antennas, but there is a few projects inline. The contest station consist of 2x Yaesu FT1000MP in SO2R config. The SO2R controller is the Super Combo Keyer mk2 from ZS4TX. Audio is supplied by HEIL Pro set 4 and 6. Contest logging and station control is managed by N1MM+.

DX logging and archive is managed by WINLOG 32. Audio is supplied by HEIL Goldline Elite GM5 and controlled by W2IHY 8 band EQ and EQplus.

The digital station is managed by MixW, WSJT-X and JT Alert. The digital interface is DigiLink (ZS4JAN homebrew)

Contest corner and SO2R setup. 2x Yaesu FT1000MP, Super Combo Keyer 2 & HEIL Goldline Elite GM5 for DX. The FT1000MP connected on the VL1000 & SP-8 generated a few world records, and was in Finland for the WRTC. These records was achieved by Bernie ZS4TX and Chris ZS6EZ.

My homebrew USB soundcard digital interface, "DigiLink". This is a unique design, and not a copy of any diagram from the internet.

The tower foundation accomodating a ProSisTel tower PST900/T that served duty at the D4B station on Cape Verde. Inside the Green Box is my surge arrestors for the coax lines, the rotator control lines, and the earth junction busbar.  The box and all surge arrestors is homebrewed. All coax and control lines is running underground in PVC tubing.
