I was first licensed in 1980 as KA6MNZ and held this license for all of 2-3 weeks until I upgraded to Technician. I decided at that time to go ahead and get an "N6" call, figuring that if nothing else I could get rid of the "Z". As you can see my plan did not work very well and I'm firmly convinced that when my application was handled at the FCC someone figured out my plan and intentionally thwarted it. At present I have no proof of this, but some day I intend to write a book about the great callsign conspiracy. Hopefully it will become a movie with Oliver Stone directing.

I spent the first 8-9 years as a Ham playing on FM repeaters happily talking to friends as I drove to and from work. In 1989 I decided to make myself a birthday present of a used HF rig. Then it happened, 0414Z March 03, 1989 I made my first HF contact with VK4FNQ and according to my XYL Linda it has been downhill ever since. I now spend most of my radio time chasing DX in search of the elusive "all time new one".

I'm a member and past President of the Southern California DX Club and I'm currently their Webmaster. I was honored and humbled to receive the SCDXC DXer of the Year award for 2007. It's quite an honor to be included with past recipients who are some of the worlds most accomplished DXers. I have been involved for many years with the International DX Convention as the webmaster and a vendor.

I'm Also a member of the Central Arizona DX Club, Yavapai Amateur Radio Club, and the Mingus Mountain Repeater Group

In past years I have done contract work for ICOM working the Dayton Hamvention for them. I have really enjoyed meeting so many people each year at Dayton.

In 2005 I started The DX Store, we began by specializing in amateur equipment aimed at DXers and contesters but we have grown rapidly and have expanded our lines to include more general amateur equipment. We carry Heil Sound, Comet, Daiwa, Belden, LMR, Samlex, Create, INRAD and many others. We have a booths at several conventions and Hamfest throughout the year and are trying to expand the number of conventions we do each year. 866-899-DXIS (3947)

If you find yourself heading for the Chino Valley/ Prescott, AZ area please e-mail me, I would be glad to buy you a cup of coffee and tell you a few tall tales.
